Scottrade is actually a brokerage company and not a piece of software, but you can buy stocks online through Scottrade. Just open a new brokerage account through Scottrade and you can start buying stocks online. Their commissions are $7 per purchase; there are some companies with zero fees per trade but I personally like Scottrade since they also have a local office in the building where I work.

You can start with any amount you want, not hundreds or thousands like with most brokerage accounts (Scottrade is $500 BTW).
hey mate its simple if you are in an area where they have a branch then go in and see them.they will take some basic info from you and you can get on there web site to find out if there is a branch near you at www.scottreade.com
but here is the cool part......you will get 3 free trades if you say that i refered you to them and i will also get 3 free trades too.we need to exchange email addresses because thats how they have proof of who i and you are. get intouch if you want free trades it saves you and me $42 each

Scottrade is a company, not a software application. You can go to scottrade.com and fill out an application for an account on line, or you can visit on of their branch offices. Either way, it's pretty simple to do and you will need a $500 minimum to open the account.
They seem to receive a lot of awards for their good customer service, and they're fees are very low.
